Currently, American buyers offer Porsche Taycans in two body styles, the traditional Taycan sedan and the Cross Turismo variant of the elevating station wagon. But now, on the eve of the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show, Porsche has launched a third model and only offers one specification.
Porsche launched the 2022 Porsche Taycan GTS and GTS Sport Turismo before its official debut at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show on Tuesday. Sport Turismo is Porsche's name for the wagon variants of its Panamera and Taycan sedans-think of the Cross Turismo's unlifted body or extra fender cladding. There are many types of Taycan Sport Turismo to choose from outside the United States, but in our wave of amber grains, the Taycan GTS will be your only way to get a suitable electric wagon.
Taycan GTS Sport Turismo itself is also a good example. The Taycan GTS relies on two permanent magnet motors to generate 590 horsepower of net power with launch control, directly placing it between the 462 horsepower Taycan 4S and the 670 horsepower Taycan Turbo, similar to the way GTS models line up in other parts of Porsche. . All this power is enough to allow the Taycan GTS to travel at 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds.
Below the body is the same 93.4 kWh Performance Battery Plus upgraded version as other Taycan models. Although Porsche has not yet given an estimate of the Taycan GTS's cruising range, the automaker does say that the battery's 800-volt architecture will allow charging from 5% to 80% in 22.5 minutes. EPA's estimates for GTS and GTS Sport Turismo should be released closer to the delivery time, which should be in the second quarter of 2022.
The design of GTS puts performance at the forefront. The standard adaptive air suspension has a unique tuning function. The 4S is equipped with a 360 mm front rotor, while the GTS's front rotor can reach a maximum of 390 mm, although the two models share the same rear brake. Porsche also made a unique modification to the GTS sound synthesizer to add some additional differences.
Like most other GTS models, the Taycan GTS visually distinguishes itself from the other models in the series. More aggressive bumpers and side skirts are standard, with bright black trims. 20-inch satin black alloy wheels are also standard, and the headlights also have some black accents.

Inside, Porsche's Race-Tex material occupies the center position, while the GTS logo appears on the headrests of the 18-way power front seats. For a little more money, the optional GTS interior kit is further enhanced with a large number of contrast stitching, GTS emblem embroidery and matte carbon trim. A glass roof is standard, but buyers can upgrade to an electrochromic roof that can change its opacity. In terms of technology, all the usual advantages are standard, including automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The 2022 Porsche Taycan GTS and GTS Sport Turismo can be ordered now, and deliveries in the United States will begin in the second quarter of next year.
