Timothy Patrick Duncan 1948 – 2021 Woolwich – Timothy Patrick Duncan, 72, longtime resident of Woolwich’s Days Ferry, in Scarborough on Tuesday, November 16 The Maine Veterans Home died and the family reunited. Tim was born in the old town on December 14, 1948, to Avis O. Wadlin and Robert G. Duncan. Due to his father's career in Reed and Reed, Tim and his family moved frequently during their childhood. Tim's every move helped him make friends across the state. Tim served as the principal of the graduating class of Island Falls High School in 1967. In the 1950s, the whole family began to take root in Woolwich and eventually settled there. After graduating from high school, Tim joined the US Army as a combat medic in Vietnam. During his stay in Vietnam, he was wounded by a landmine and received the Purple Heart Medal. Other honors include the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Medic badge. Tim was honorably discharged from the army in 1970. He graduated from the Bill Business School in 1972 with a degree in business administration. In addition to working briefly at Bath Bus Service and Carpenter's Shop, Tim also worked for a long time in Reed and Reed. Following in his father's footsteps, Tim started working for the company during the summer vacation of high school. He retired as a foreman after a stroke in 2013. As a young man, Tim married Catherine Sullivan Underwood, and they had a daughter, Amy. He later married Debra Herron Wynn and helped raise her daughter Melissa Arnson. As an avid athlete, Tim can be found by the lake in winter, in the creek in spring, and throughout the autumn woods. He also likes to ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Shortly before his stroke, he was able to go on a cross-country trip with his riding partner. He is a member of the Elk Club, the American Disabled Veterans and the Phipsburg Athlete Club. Tim's daughter Amy and husband Jacek Pietrowski are from Annapolis, Maryland. Also grandsons Oskar and Olivier Pietrowski of Annapolis, Maryland; sister and caregiver, Kathy Duncan of Woolwich; long-term partner Christine Alves, son Anthony Alves Anthony Alves, his wife Paula (Anthony Alves) and their children are in Bath; a few nieces and nephews; and Romeo, his faithful border collie. His parents Robert and Avis Duncan died before him. There is also the younger brother James Duncan. The family would like to thank his caregivers Dorene Corbett and Laurie Reynolds for their dedication to keep Tim happy and comfortable at home for many years after the stroke.
