As of December 1, 2022, all USEF licensed Stewards and Technical Delegates will be required to wear a form of “discernible identification” while officiating, according to the USEF Licensed Officials Department.

The USEF Board of Directors met on June 20, 2022 to review rule change proposals for the 2023 competition year, and this change was approved. The USEF Licensed Officials Department has created new magnetic name badges for all USEF licensed Stewards and Technical Delegates that will be distributed in the coming weeks. Licensed Officials will not be required to wear the badges until December 1, but they may begin wearing them upon receipt if they wish.

Should a Licensed Official have a previous name badge or form of identification from competition management, that is also acceptable, according to the Department.

“We hope you will wear your name badge proudly to assist with exhibitors identifying you at competitions,” a statement from USEF reads. “Thank you for dedicating your time and knowledge as a Licensed Official to give back to the sport.”
