All car companies until recently tried to make their emblems as large as possible, but now there is a new trend – to make them flat. The French manufacturer Citroen decided to simply go back in time and will now use its logo from 1919. The Citroen emblem has always had two chevrons (if anyone is not aware, a chevron is a V-shaped emblem in the armies, usually upside down) and the French do not refuse this function. In addition, the evolution of emblems has come full circle and returned roughly to what it was a hundred years ago.

However, if anyone thinks that this logo has any reference to army symbols, then they are wrong. This is a chevron gear stylization, and André Citroën himself (the founder of the company) chose this image. The very evolution of logos has long been subordinated to the possibilities of printing – initially the emblems were simple and “flat” (for one-color printing), by the beginning of the 21st century almost all companies came out with more complex three-dimensional versions. Now everyone goes back to their main emblems. “It made a lot of sense for us to come full circle by going back to Andre Citroen’s first logo, which represented the true promise of affordable and innovative mobility for all,” said Citroen designer Alexandre Revert. The new logo will be used both in the digital environment and on all elements of Citroen’s corporate identity, including signs on buildings, advertising materials, merchandise and, of course, cars. The first model to receive it will be a concept that the brand will present at the end of September.
