Elton John returns to Vicarage Road to play two very special dates as part of his award-winning Farewell Yellow Brick Road: Final Tour in just a matter of weeks (July 3-4).
A crucial figure during some of Watford’s most memorable years, Elton was Chairman as the Hornets rose through the divisions of English football, culminating in a second-place finish in the top-flight in 1983, an FA Cup final in 1984 and a memorable voyage into European competition.
To celebrate the Honorary Life-President’s fast-approaching homecoming shows and special relationship with the club, Elton, Watford FC and Copa Retro have collaborated to develop a range of premium fashion and unique accessories.
Inspired by iconic imagery from Elton’s first photoshoot at Vicarage Road in 1974, the Elton x Watford collection is a festivity of colour and imagination.
Graphic depictions of these images are reprised in print and embroidery on apparel, mugs, badges and keyrings.
For those with slightly more adventurous taste, the collection also includes a t-shirt, shirt, bucket hat and scarf, featuring an all-over-print graphic using the renowned ‘Hornet’ from the 1974 crest - the year when Elton first joined the board at Watford.
In addition, the famous side of 1984 are commemorated in the collection with a distinctive depiction of the legendary image with Elton surrounded by his squad.
Discussing the upcoming concerts, Elton said, “I love the club so dearly, and have had some of the best days of my life in those stands. These shows are going to be so incredibly emotional, and to spend them surrounded by my fellow Watford fans will be wonderful. We’ve been on quite the journey together. Come on you ‘Orns!”
