Southern University and A&M College modernized their mail and printing operations, notifying recipients when mail arrived and expanding internal printing services. This Louisiana institution with 7,000 students and 1,500 faculty members collaborated with Ricoh America on these initiatives.

A new campus mail center replaced key-operated mailboxes with "high-density mailboxes." Students verify their identity by tapping on their ID badge. The mail center now also provides quotes for shipping via FedEx, UPS, and the U.S. Postal Service to help users compare prices. The facility also sells packaging and mailing materials on site, reducing the need for people to buy outside of the school.

In terms of printing, the university had previously sent most of its high-end printing work (including recruitment, flyers and business cards) to outsiders for completion. The agency hopes to reduce costs, speed up turnover, and improve printing quality by bringing these jobs to campus. The university used three Ricoh printers-Pro C71100SX, RICOH Pro 8110Se black and white cut sheet printer and Pro L4130 wide format color latex printer-to enable the school to start printing epidemic-related health and safety signs internally, and Recruitment materials, window coverings, flyers, saddle-stitched booklets, classroom bags, exams, business cards, graduation banners, signs, calendars, event passes and announcement cards.

Both businesses are operated by Ricoh.

"Ricoh has a comprehensive plan for new equipment to transform the print and mail center and provide additional services. This is a huge selling point for us," said Benjamin Pugh, the university's vice president of finance and administration. . Case study on implementation.
